PEACHOID PAGE MAKES FRONT PAGE!
In the January 12, 1996 edition of The
Gaffney Ledger, the following article
appeared
Internet surfers might find a familiar scene now
while browsing through the vast regions of
cyberspace.
A "Peachoid Home Page" is now on the 'Net, complete
with a photograph of the local landmark and its
history.
"Behold, the beloved Peachoid ...," the page starts
out. "WHAT IS IT? The Peachoid is a water tower located
right on I-85 in Gaffney, S.C. that has been cleverly
disguised as a peach..."
The page includes the dimensions of the structure,
how it came to be built, who was involved and interesting
facts including the number of welds and total gallons of
paint involved in building the water tower.
